John Sulzberger

Now retired, John has spent most of his life Dairy Farming in Central Taranaki, with some time spent as an owner/operator of a small business.

Educated at Mangatoki Primary, and Stratford High Schools, a return to study during later life, resulted in gaining a Certificate in Supervisory Management at the Taranaki Polytechnic, as well as several papers at Diploma level.

John became aware of Learning Disabilities about 10 years ago, after discovering the reason his youngest son had poor academic achievement, was Dyslexia. His eldest son, also had the same problem. Both received assistance through the SPELD program and now have achieved success.

The last ten years has been spent working in the area of learning disabilities, gaining increasing knowledge about the problems and attempting to bring recognition for those children, and adults, who constantly struggle with reading and writing.

His vision has always been to have children assessed at the appropriate age in their primary years and then receive appropriate remedial tuition. Where ADD / ADHD is present, assistance to enable parents to cope positively is invaluable.
